Due to these responsibilities the Senator is heading the supervisory boards of numerous public enterprises in Hamburg, such as the Hamburg Water Group (the Water Works Company and the Public Sewage Company), the Public Cleansing Department (including Waste Management, Recycling and Incineration), the Hamburg Harbour City Development Company, several municipal housing and real estate enterprises, the Municipal Public transport company Hochbahn AG.
